Lessya Kotelevskaya to receive reconstructive surgery June 23

Lessya Kotelevskaya, who was disfigured by a misdiagnosis of terminal cancer at age 19 in Kazakhstan, will undergo her major reconstructive surgery with University of Louisville Physicians on Monday, June 23.

The surgery will be performed by Dr. Jarrod Little, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon with UofL Physicians who is donating his time to help Lessya. It is expected to last up to 24 hours or more, and will take place at University of Louisville Hospital, part of KentuckyOne Health.

UofL Physicians will be live tweeting during the surgery (follow @UofLPhysicians on Twitter) with the hashtag #Hope4Lessya. Photos and updates also will be provided on the UofL Physicians Facebook page (facebook.com/uoflphysicians) and website, UofLphysicians.com.
