University of Louisville Physicians (ULP) is made up of more than 600 highly trained and dedicated doctors who work together to care for patients from prenatal days to the senior years. JOB SUMMARY

The Sr. Payroll Specialist is responsible for providing overall day to day guidance related to employee pay including but not limited to Time and Attendance, Payroll, and Pay Statements.  This person is expected to work collaboratively with the members of the Finance, I/S and human resource team.  The Sr. Payroll Specialist is also responsible for recording accruals and journal entries related to payroll, reviewing audit reports, and reconciling payroll and fringe benefits related accounts.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Working closely with the Payroll Specialist and HR Team the Sr. Payroll Specialist will be accountable for the transition of incoming PSC’s onto ULP’s payroll.

·       Define standards and reusable approaches within the Payroll operational framework.  Identify process improvement initiatives and define standards for new processes.

·       Manage the timely and accurate processing of payroll and payroll related data.  Handle high volume transactions appropriately.

·       Serve as a payroll liaison with ADP and other payroll vendors, including coordinating  activities and resolving issues.

·       Manage the time and attendance automated system and associated interface with the payroll system.

·       Develop and recommend policy and procedural changes to payroll functions.

·       Collaborate with HR ensuring employee changes are entered in the ADP system are accurate and timely.

·       Provide a high level of customer service to ensure that employees and managers receive accurate, timely and appropriate information regarding payroll.

·       Establish and maintain clear lines of communication to enforce, interpret and explain payroll policies and procedures and resolve employee issues.

·       Maintain employee payroll records and documents, including required data for federal and state laws and guidelines.

·       Stay up to date on federal, state, and local payroll and tax laws, policies, and procedures.

·       Provide reports for payroll, time and attendance, employee statistics, benefits and retirement plan contributions and employer match.

·       Prepare journal entries for payroll and accruals.

·       Reconcile payroll, withholding and fringe benefit accounts.

·       Provide payroll documentation for financial audit.

·       Understand upstream and downstream impacts of changes to processes, systems, etc.

·       Provide assistance on special projects, as assigned

·       Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

·       Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education is preferred, related payroll experience is required.

·       Experience scale with an organization processing 2000+ employees required.

·       Certificates in CPP or FPC strongly preferred.

·       Expert knowledge of ADP WorkforceNow platform strongly preferred.

·       Expert Excel skills required: pivot, charts, graphs, macros, v-lookup, and formulas.
