JOB SUMMARY

This position will provide support and optimize the use of the Allscripts Enterprise Electronic Health Record system for the University of Louisville Physicians in assigned ULP clinics through development of tools, refinement of workflows, and provision of EHR support to the clinics.  This individual will work closely with physicians, nurse managers and staff to maximize efficient and effective use of the Enterprise EHR as it relates to patient care, user satisfaction, clinical productivity and quality outcomes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Attain and maintain knowledge about clinic practices, procedures, workflows, including providing training on applicable Enterprise EHR modules where appropriate to enhance clinical care.

·       Develop and maintain clinical documentation templates based on physician and other clinical provider input.

·       Work with ULP clinic leaders to establish best practices to modify and improve Enterprise EHR. Visit clinics regularly to identify areas for system build and workflow improvements that can be quickly and accurately identified, prioritized, and implemented.

·       Develop and maintain tools that provide optimal user efficiency and proficiency, with particular emphasis on development of tools to assist physicians in documentation and ordering within Enterprise EHR. Audit and review new tools and processes that have been implemented.

·       Observe and assess user skills, coach individuals and offer individual or clinic meetings to share tips and tricks to enhance user proficiency. Available to physician and staff for quick answers to questions.

·       Provide recommendations, observations to clinic management and leadership regarding strategies to improve user satisfaction and increase efficiencies.

·       Works as liaison to GE/IDX Centricity Business Systems Analysts, and the Systems and Operations IT group.

·       Work closely with Technical Training group to develop training documentation and simulators for physicians and other clinical staff.

·       Work on-site at clinics when new functionality in Enterprise EHR is introduced.

·       Periodically assess workflows, user proficiency and system tools.

·       Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

·       Education: Bachelor Degree in Nursing. A degree in Informatics is preferred but not required; appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis

·       Experience: Five to eight years of clinical experience in an ambulatory setting is strongly preferred

·       Clinic management or experience in workflow, electronic medical record systems (Enterprise EHR) and computer analyst experience strongly desired

·       Certifications/Licenses: Kentucky RN or RN Practitioner

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

·       Self-starter, initiative, problem identification, resolution and analytical skills are essential

·       Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, including the ability to coach and teach clinic staff and physicians

·       Strong critical thinking and the ability to apply knowledge at an enterprise level within a complex academic medical center are essential

·       An understanding of clinical flows and basic Health Information Management (HIM) processes is desired

·       Previous experience with ambulatory clinics and practices is required

·       Scheduling flexibility is required to accommodate changing business needs

·       Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
