JOB SUMMARY
This is a non-exempt position responsible for coordinating, verifying, distributing and managing all billable services. This position will also be responsible for the proper and timely processing of claims and payments to providers and for the review/collection of delinquent patient accounts.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
· Oversees claim processing and payments to third-party providers. Answers associated correspondence.
· Monitors charges and verifies correct payment of claims and capitation deductions.
· Sends denial letters on claims and follow-ups on requests for information.
· Audits and reviews claim payments reports for accuracy and compliance.
· Researches and resolves claim and capitation issues.
· Prepares claim reports for Administration and Finance on utilization and claim payment turn-around time. Identifies exceptional claims for review.
· Identifies delinquent accounts aging period and payment sources.
· Processes delinquent unpaid accounts by contacting patients and third-party carriers. Reviews patient finances to establish a payment plan and assigns uncollectable accounts to collection agency.
· Performs various collections actions including contacting patients by phone and resubmitting claims to third-party carriers.
· Maintains required billing records, reports, files, etc.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
· Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
· Experience: Minimum two years of medical collection experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
· Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices.
· Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices.
· Knowledge of legal and regulatory government provisions.
· Skills:
· Skill in establishing and maintaining effective internal and external working relationships.
· Abilities:
· Ability to enter accurate data and examine insurance documents.
· Ability to deal courteously with patients, staff and others.
· Ability to communicate effectively and clearly

Working Conditions are normal for an office environment.
